In 2003 and 2004 my wife and I visited Egypt. Sailing on the Nile on the old King Faud paddle steamer the SS. Karim from Aswan to Luxor and back over the New Year in 2003. This steamer the sister ship of the one featured in Death on the Nile was built in Scotstoun in my home town of Glasgow. In 2004 accompanied by our friends David and Adrienne we stayed at the Old Cateract in Aswan made famous by Agatha Christie and we also stayed in Luxor at the Old Winter Palace where Carter announced the discovery of Tutankhamun's Tomb.
