House & Garden
I was priviledged during my career to meet Helmet Newton. He told me he kept a small camera in each room of his house and would photograph something from the room each day - I suppose a kind of observational brain training. The french impressionist painter Manet when illness made him housebound continued to work painting still lives in his room. The awful weather we have had this winter and spring has precluded me from much photography out of doors and so in a similar way I decided to photograph within the confines of the house and garden. We become so familiar with the everday objects and ornaments around us that we no longer see them in their original context.. These photographs are the start of a series which will be added to on a regular basis
